Regardless, Farm Bureau stands ready to assist landowners that will be affected by the route and we are prepared to offer workshops this fall to help educate citizens about eminent domain and the process by which the land acquisitions will occur. Now SCE claims all is nearly lost. It insists it must be given emergency powers with only one possible solution: the only route it ever wanted from the beginning. Given the decline in power consumption, it is ill advised to abandon the CPUC public deliberation and CEQA processes. There is a wealth of possible interim technical solutions – incentivized conservation, load management, subsidized distributed generation, to list a few. The present direction of Southern California Edison can only make for ill will toward the Company. It will foster future cynicism toward the CPUC's dedication to open and fair decision making, and government in general. SCE has had more than 90 years to carefully plan for improvements and modifications to keep up with growth.
